Meet the Maker: The Wet Felting Experience

As part of our “Meet the Makers” interview series, we asked our Makers to tell us a little about themselves. Today, meet Karen from The Wet Felting Experience!

The Wet Felting Experience1) Who are you and where do you come from?

My name is Karen Rao and I’m from Brighton. I moved down from London eight years ago and have found lots of new inspiration!

2) What do you do?

I am a felt artist.

3) Do you have a website?

http://karenrao.com/

My work is constantly evolving so my more recent work can be found in my Etsy shop.

4) What will you have on your stall?

I use the ancient art of felt making using just wool, soap and water to create new contemporary wearable art. I’ll be showing/selling lots of my examples.

5) Are you running any workshops?

Yes. We’ll be creating a mini art each to take home. The workshop will be running constantly throughout the day and appeals to all ages. Parents ‘help’ their kids, who then don’t get a look in by the end. It’s proved very popular!

6) Have you been to a Maker Faire before?

This will be my third Brighton Mini Maker Faire!!!

7) Anything else you want to share?

Just be prepared for the masses of people and loosing your voice from talking so much!

Discounted advance tickets for Brighton Mini Maker Faire 2014 are now available!
