As part of our “Meet the Makers” interview series, we asked our Makers to tell us a little about themselves. Today, meet Emm from Handbound Notebooks!
I’m Emmeline (Emm) and I’ve lived in Brighton for around 14 years now. Originally from near Bristol and then via Nottingham.
2) What do you do?
I make handbound notebooks, using traditional bookbinding skills and making my own binding cloth so each one is unique. When I’m not binding, I am the Event Manager for UX Brighton’s annual conference and also mama to two young kids.
3) Do you have a website?
Hmmm, my lovely husband promised me it would be ready some time ago (OK, he started on it 5 years ago…). It WILL be ready in time for the maker faire, or there will be trouble
4) What will you have on your stall?
I’m going to be demoing how to make a simple pamphlet style notebook with a hard, clothbound cover and selling kits (which I’m designing/preparing as we speak!).
5) Are you running any workshops?
No. Just the demo this time.
6) Have you been to a Maker Faire before?
As a visitor but not as a Maker.
7) Anything else you want to share?
I’m feeling a bit anxious about signing up to this and hoping I can do half as good a job as the Makers I’ve seen there in previous years.
Looking forward to meeting you all!
