As part of our “Meet the Makers” interview series, we asked our Makers to tell us a little about themselves. Today, meet Scarlett from the Make a Ring Workshop!
Hello I’m Scarlett Erskine and I’m from Dundee in Scotland. Myself and Leanne Evans will be attending this year’s Mini Maker Faire in Brighton. Leanne is currently living in Glasgow.
2) What do you do?
I am a jewellery designer and I run my own business, Scarlett Erskine Jewellery. I make and sell jewellery to galleries and shops throughout the UK and also make one off commissions.
Leanne also had her own business, Leanne T Evans Jewellery, although this year Leanne has decided to have a wee change in career and is off to do Civil Engineering in September.
Together Leanne and I run classes on how to make a silver ring.
3) Do you have a website?
4) What will you have on your stall?
Together Leanne and I run “A Taste of Jewellery” classes teaching people how to make a ring and learn the basic techniques in jewellery making: soldering, texturing metal, sawing, polishing.
5) Are you running any workshops?
We will be doing two classes over the day teaching groups of people how to make their own silver ring.
6) Have you been to a Maker Faire before?
We have run our “A Taste of Jewellery” classes at Mini Maker Faires in Dundee and Edinburgh.
7) Anything else you want to share?
Look forward to meeting you all!! Everyone’s stalls/workshops sound really interesting and exciting to learn about!
