Meet the Maker: Electrochemistry

As part of our “Meet the Makers” interview series, we asked our Makers to tell us a little about themselves. Today, meet Russell from Electrochemistry!

Electrochemistry1) Who are you and where do you come from?

I am Russell (also representing Lindsey and Mick).

2) What do you do?

We are all teachers at Oriel High School in Crawley. Lindsay teaches Biology; Mick teaches Chemistry; I teach Physics.

3) Do you have a website?

Or follow me on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/Russell_Arnott

4) What will you have on your stall?

We are running an electrochemistry workshop where you can build your own battery out of household items; make chlorine gas; split water into hydrogen and oxygen and ignite it; copper-plate your keys or a coin.

5) Are you running any workshops?

Yes – see above!

6) Have you been to a Maker Faire before?

Yes – I have attended Brighton Mini Maker Faire for the past two years (proof is here, I’m in the skull t-shirt looking at the Dalek). This will be Lindsay and Mick’s first Maker Faire.
