Restoring railway carriages dating from between 1880 to 1950 is a group activity requiring thousands of hours of volunteer labour and a certain aptitude for doing anything and everything, engineering, electrical, metalwork, woodwork, upholstery, painting etc. We will feature some of the woodwork we’re doing towards the restoration of a London Chatham and Dover Railway carriage we’ve just starting work on, with display panels. We’ve just completed another adapted to provide wheel-chair access. Both were rescued after many years as part of bungalows.
